Thank You To Our Past and Present Veteran Residents
Veteran’s Day is approaching this Saturday, November 11th. As a retirement community in Los Angeles, we’ve been home to dozens of veterans who have served in the United States Armed Forces in a variety of capacities, including World War II veterans, Korean War veterans, as members of the Army Reserve, Navy Reserve, Air Force Reserve, and serving a range of roles including engineers, pilots, sailors, physicians, and mechanics. Veteran’s Day isn’t the only military holiday each year. Memorial Day is a widely celebrated, but other overlooked military holidays include Military Spouse Appreciation Day on May 12. During our establishment, our residents have included as many military spouses as veterans, so this is an important day to observe. Other interesting military holidays include the recently passed Navy Birthday on October 13, the Army Birthday on June 14, the Air Force Birthday on September 18, and the Marine Corps Birthday tomorrow on November 10. If you know a veteran, or meet a veteran on Veteran’s Day, please thank them for their service, and if they’re Marine Corps veteran, congratulate them on the 242nd anniversary of the Marine Corps.
